My interest in D'Holder Knives was sparked by the overall feel of a D'Holder knife, combined with the "flow" of the knives and the workmanship exhibited in the knife.
Over the years I've bought, traded and sold custom knives from many prominent makers, yet, I was seldom able to bring myself to part with any of my D'Holder knives. An avid hunter in my earlier years, I know and appreciate what "a good knife" is, and feels like in the hand.
When holding a D'Holder knife in my hand, I can feel the 'soul' within the knife. Visiting friends and family are more often than not, introduced to my D'Holder knife collection. During our conversations, the knife is repeatedly picked up and handled by my guests. Often, it is only after I mention it that they realize the attraction is largely because of the "energy" of the knife.
D'Holder knives have the "heft" and "balance", as well as the symmetry, to not only "feel good", but, they also "look good". His knives are works of art, as well as prime examples of premium, present day custom knives.
D'Alton Holder was the first knife maker to use Amber in a custom knife, the first to put "S" guards on a custom knife, and his "My Knife" model is the most widely recognized custom knife design in the world.
Initially, this web site was to be a place to share and showcase my collection of D'Holder knives. This came about because I had a lot of D'Holder Custom Knives that I did not want to be "Safe Queens", and, I had a long, blank wall in my house.
I built a large(3 foot high x 7 foot wide) two shelf horizontal display case into this wall. Of course this became "D" wall, where "D" knives were displayed. This led to my wondering if "D Knife Place" might be available as a web site name (and, it was!), so we now have this site ("D" Knife Place) showcasing "D" knives from "D" wall.
Now, I have expanded this site by deciding to sell some from my collection too, augmenting my pension cheque.
The gallery knives will continue to be rotated on a fairly regular basis, and the knives for sale will be updated from time-to-time. Of course, all of my knives may be for sale, so if there is one that you are especially interested in, or, you are seeking a certain knife, please contact me.
I am a serious D'Holder Knife collector and I buy, trade and sell D'Holder Knives. I have bought, sold, or traded knives to/from: U.S.A., Australia, Germany, Italy, France, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain and of course, Canada.
I hope you enjoy this web site.
